NH Diane and DH Chet


Welcome to the Sensational Walkers Blog. Our members are from all parts of the country, are over 60 years of age, and are committed to staying physically and mentally strong and young through daily walking and healthy eating following the Weight Watchers Program. As soon as our feet hit the floor when we "hop" out of bed every morning, we clip on our step counters and strive to get 10,000 or more steps daily. We record our steps on the American on the Move web site, take their virtual walks, and many of us have accumulated total personal steps in the millions.

A few years ago several of our members decided, after tiring of the few virtual walks offered on the AOM site, to establish our own virtual trips. Since then members have walked in China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy (during the Olympics), Spain, England, Ireland, and Scotland. We are now walking our home country -- The United States -- in three parts: eastern, middle, and western. Several members have volunteered to put together these trips, and they are made available on an Excel spreadsheet as well as a Word document. Both formats enable us to change our daily steps into miles and progress along our journey through the different countries.

We always welcome new walkers to join our group. We post on the Weight Watchers web site in the Over 60 group, and the first member awake and on-line starts our daily postings. Besides relating where we may be on our virtual trips that day, we also share our daily plans and activities, family news, recipes, tips on walking, how we may be feeling, our weather, the pool temperature (so we can torture our cold climate friends in the winter LOL) and so forth. In many ways we have become a support group for each other. Several of our members have even met each other for visits and meals(always OP, of course)!
